foresthill california
the gateway to the golden sierras.
"The location is beautiful, the atmosphere is pure, the water good, and the people are healthy and prosperous."
That was the description of Foresthill in the Placer County Directory of 1861, when miners and adventurers were the core of the citizenry. Most people living here today would agree with that description.
Foresthill is situated on a ridge between the North and Middle forks of the American River 16 miles East of Auburn. The Todd's Valley area of Foresthill is located 13 miles East of Auburn off Foresthill Road. With improvements in Foresthill Road over the years, it is now about 12 miles to the Todd's Valley Subdivision and it takes approximately 15 minutes from I-80 in Auburn. The town of Foresthill is another 5 Miles up Foresthill Road and only takes an extra 4 to 7 minutes.
Foresthill has survived due to the pioneer spirit of it's inhabitants. Being located away from super highways and industrial complexes has kept it feeling wild and untamed. The towering pines, spruce, oak, madrone, fir and cedar trees are always visible, forming living backdrops behind the homes, schools and businesses.
It's out-of-the-way locale has turned it's residence to each other for help, and, as a result, volunteerism is Foresthill's biggest commodity.
Volunteers created our community, just like the original settlers, we know we must work together to make things happen.
